Five nerdy movies to watch before the holidays are over.

I know what you're thinking. "But Mariah, it's Wednesday. It's not the weekend. What's up with a new post?" I just love you guys and feel awful for being sick last weekend and writing a paper instead of a blog post. Curse thee paper....

In case you were wondering, I went to Denver for work and got to go to the aquarium...and work....That's pretty much it. I had a decent amount of fun and the aquarium was pretty cool. I spent most of my off time in my hotel room trying not to cough up a lung. Apparently, I was not as well adapted to the cold as I remember being. I loved the mountains though. It was awesome to see them and the air was clear and fresh and really cold. I tried Moroccan food which was delicious.

Alright enough about me. Today we're talking about my favorite winter/Christmas/holiday movies to watch.

First, Nightmare before Christmas.

Now before you say anything. Nightmare Before Christmas is totally a Christmas movie. It's in the name obviously and there are a bunch of songs about stealing Christmas, Santa Claus, and the fascination with Christmas as a whole. It's both a Halloween and Christmas movie. It's a Wintereen movie. I plan on watching this tomorrow with a huge french press of coffee, a warm blanket, surrounded by pets.

Next up is.....

Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Narnia is plunged into an everlasting Winter by the Witch and this movie epitomizes the sacrifices family will make for each other. Looking at you Edmund.....

Anyways, I love watching this movie in the winter and my fiance and I are planning on watching it within the next week. Again with a big french press of coffee and a warm blanket. It's winter. I'm allowed to be perpetually cold. It's the only season it makes sense in.

Number three

STAR WARS EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK...or the original trilogy plus Episode 7.

Hoth...nuff said.

Number 4, just because we need a musical in here.

This has some of the best songs in it and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is probably one of my favorite Judy Garland songs of all time. This family is hilarious and they truly care for each other.

And finally....

The Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my favorite Muppet movies, its a close second to Muppet Treasure Island. They're so cute and this version of the story is well done. Plus, I love the Muppets. <3

Alright, there we go. My list of five movies to watch before the holiday season is over. Obviously, there are a ton more, but this is my bare minimum if I could only watch five holiday/winter/Christmas movies list. What are your favorites to watch? Does Frozen count as winter...since it's set in Summer?

Talk to you guys on Friday.

  1. To begin with, I think that the perfect Winter/Christmas movie is anything that you can watch while curled up in a blanket with a hot drink.

    1. You are preaching to the choir. I am perpetually cold and am always looking for a new throw blanket to cuddle with while I'm watching a movie, anime, or show.
